These caterpillars live underwater eating various species of pondweed.

The wings of the adult of this species have a pattern of various shades of brown, and white. The hindwings each have a dark spot near the middle.

The species has been found around the world, including:

  • China,
  • Great Britain,
  • India,
  • Japan,
  • Taiwan,
  • Thailand,
    as well as in:
  • Queensland.
